Bedwellty House and Park in Tredegar, South Wales, has officially reopened to the public, following the completion of an extensive £5.9m restoration programme at the property.

The Grade II-listed property has been extensively restored by Blaenau Gwent Council and supported by a £3.6m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). Cadw, the Welsh Assembly Government's Heads of the Valleys scheme and the European Regional Development Fund have also backed the work to restore the house and park.

The project is regarded as a key tourism scheme in the Heads of the Valleys area and will see the property provide education and healthy living opportunities for the community. Dan Clayton Jones, chair of the HLF in Wales, said: "Through the restoration of the building and park and introduction of a new heritage centre complete with community archives, Bedwellty House is sure to become a hub for the local community and a magnet for visitors to the area."
