New-look facilities for Carryduff leisure centre
Castlereagh Borough Council (CBC) has announced that work has been completed on a refurbishment of Lough Moss Leisure Centre in Carryduff, County Down.
A new floodlit artificial pitch has been created as part of the project, which will accommodate hockey and soccer and will be able to be divided into four smaller pitches. Internal improvements have included the installation of a pulastic sports hall surface and upgraded squash courts, while a new 30m (98ft) wind turbine to enhance the centre's sustainability.
Two physical activity and health and wellbeing projects have now been launched by the council following the revamp - Castlereagh Safe and Well (CSAW) and Active Communities. CSAW has been handed a £930,447 grant by the Big Lottery Fund, while Active Communities is sponsored by Sport Northern Ireland. Both schemes are funded for five years.
