New play area unveiled in Oxford
A new £130,000 play area has been officially unveiled in Oxford's Hinksey Park as part of a wider local authority-led £2.5m programme to improve local facilities for young people.
Oxford City Council (OCC) opened the facility on 1 May to coincide with the launch of Hinksey Pool, with a climbing unit with tunnel slide and a sand pit with a beached pirate ship among new equipment to be installed. Some existing equipment has been retained or relocated as part of the scheme, while work has also been carried out on creating new paths to improve access to the play area.
OCC parks and open spaces manager Stuart Fitzsimmons said: "There is a new set of swings, basket swing and toddler multi-climber and slide. We've also kept in some old equipment including the toddler swings as they are very popular."
