New programmes for Planet Fitness

Planet Fitness, one of Singapore's largest health and fitness operators, has launched three new initiatives this month.

All Planet Fitness clubs have introduced new classes inspired by the current craze for dance-led exercise in Asia. Participants are taught a dance routine, which is broken down into steps, taught in short segments and built up into one choreographed routine to the latest dance music. Latin, street, jazz, funk and showbiz steps are are all used to create a good-fun, high-calorie burning workout.

The health club group also hosted Les Mills body training classes in March. A three-day training module for new instructors took place, with quarterly workshops planned for later this month to update instructors in Singapore who are already teaching Les Mills programmes.

International master trainers from New Zealand and Australia will present instructors with new music and new choreography, plus an educational component to develop their skills and knowledge base.

A spokesperson for Planet Fitness says:

'Planet Fitness has a firm commitment to the training of group fitness professionals, as well as the recruitment and development of new instructors and fresh faces in the industry.'

Last month, Planet Fitness kicked off a new programme designed at getting children interested in fitness. A twice-weekly programme offers children in SIngapore an hour-long personal training session covering stretching, games, martial arts and resistance training. It also includes physical fitness education, dealing with safe ways to exercise, muscles, bones and joints.

The group hopes that by offering these programmes, children will get into the habit of keeping fit and attending a health club.
