New spa inspired by Peranakan traditions
YTL Hotels and Resorts is to launch a Spa Village in December in The Majestic Malacca hotel in the city of Malacca in Malaysia.
Designed by GSD Architects, the new facility will cover 9,110sq ft (846sq m) and have 10 spa rooms in total, comprising six treatment spaces and four hair treatment rooms.
Therapies have been inspired by the healing traditions of the Peranakan Chinese and a number of signature treatments reflecting aspects of this culture will be on offer.
Sylvia Sepielli was consulted during the design and development process of the new Spa Village, while a spa manger is currently being appointed.
YTL’s spa division manager, Chik Lai Ping, said: “The Spa Village Malacca will provide an individual and authentic encounter with the region it is situated in. The new wellness facility will combine the therapeutic properties of natural local ingredients with the practices of the Peranakan Chinese in Malacca.”
