New sports and culture strategy for Ipswich
Ipswich Borough Council's (IBC) new strategy for sports and culture in the city is set to be put out to consultation.
The new Cultural Strategy sets out a number of aims, including the completion of a £3.4m investment programme at Crown Pools and an expanded arts festival. Other targets include the provision of £1m to revitalise Broomhill Lido; the creation of a sports village at Gainsborough sports centre; and the development of a new arts quarter.
IBC culture portfolio holder Andrew Cann said: "This is a very exciting long-term blueprint for culture and leisure in Ipswich. "Yes, we do face enormous financial pressures and we must cut costs but this council has an incredibly successful record when it comes to doing more for less in both culture and sport."
