New sports facilities for Barnoldswick
A new pavilion and a new rugby pitch have been opened at Victory Park in Barnoldswick, Lancashire as part of a £1.5m revamp project.
Pendle Borough Council (PBC) has funded the scheme through its Asset Management Capital Programme over a two-year period, which also includes a new play area and pathways. The £620,000 pavilion, which opened on 1 November, boasts six changing rooms for the town's football and cricket teams, as well as West Craven Warriors Rugby League Football Club. Facilities for match officials and a refreshment area have also been created as part of the project.
Work on the new facilities was carried out by Pendle's Park and Recreation Service Department, which will also be responsible for maintaining the park. Ann Kerrigan, PBC's member responsible for parks, said: "The new pitch and building are a boost for sports in Pendle. They will make a great difference for the teams that use Victory Park."
