New sports strategy for County Clare
A new strategy for the future development of sport and recreation in County Clare, Ireland, has been launched following an extensive consultation with local sports agencies and organisations.
Clare County Council's (CCC) development board has produced the two-year strategy in order to promote and develop new and existing multi-purpose sports facilities in communities across the region, as well as increasing participation. The strategy is supported by a steering committee comprising representatives from a number of bodies, including the council, Clare Sports Partnership, Ennis Town Council, Kilrush Town Council and Shannon Development.
John Treacy, chief executive of the Irish Sports Council, said: "This can bring many benefits such as matching the needs of the local communities to the priorities of the partnership. It is then possible to quantify the resources required to effectively achieve these priorities and answer local needs."
