New stadium planned for Consett AFC
Consett Association Football Club's (CAFC) plans to relocate to a new stadium at Crookhall, County Durham, are set to be put on display at a special event today (16 June).
The club is working in partnership with Durham County Council (DCC) on the scheme, which will see an academy and leisure centre built on the Belle Vue Park site - CAFC's current home. It is hoped the event will provide local residents with the opportunity to comment on design proposals before a detailed planning application is submitted.
DCC cabinet member for regeneration Neil Foster said: "The plans for the football club and for the new leisure centre are really exciting and I would like to encourage as many people as possible to see them for themselves." Residents will also have the opportunity to view the draft layout for the leisure centre and swimming pool from 17 June, while the submission of plans for the stadium will not commit DCC to building the venue.
