New sustainable events toolkit launched
National events agency EventScotland has unveiled a new resource designed to help make cultural and sports events more environmentally sustainable.
The Sustainable Sport and Event Toolkit (SSET) was developed by 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics organisers and the International Academy of Sport Science and Technology. EventScotland has been a development partner Scottish event organisers can use the toolkit to provide step-by-step guidance for implementing eco-friendly measures across areas such as site selection and public engagement, as well as community and supply chain.
EventScotland chief operating officer Paul Bush said: "Social and environmental sustainability are two of the biggest issues facing the global events industry today and the Sustainable Sport and Event Toolkit is a massive development in the field. "Scotland's event owners will now have free access to this invaluable resource which will provide guidance and support in developing and implementing a sustainability strategy for their event."
