New tower attraction for Carowinds
Carowinds theme park, in Charlotte, North Carolina (USA), will install a US$6.5m (£4m, 4.5m euro) WindSeeker attraction in April 2012.
The 301ft (91.7m) tower has a ride capacity of 960 passengers per hour. Riders will experience a sense of weightlessness as the swings reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour and the arms extend outward at a 45-degree angle.
WindSeeker will be equipped with speakers located on the ride's carriage where audio can play up to eighteen different music tracks. The tower will also be visible at night, thanks to a LED lighting system.
Carowinds vice president and general manager, Bart Kinzel, said: "This new addition will give guests an unparalleled view, making it a must-ride attraction for both families and thrill-seekers alike."
