New trust launches to deliver sport, health and fitness activities
Community Sports, Arts and Leisure Trust (C-Salt) has launched with the aim of encouraging long-term partnerships with a range of organisations in the provision of leisure activities.
The charitable trust is looking to work with local authorities; schools and colleges; and other public sector bodies to deliver sport, health and fitness services to local communities.
C-Salt is a charitable company limited by guarantee and benefits from VAT exemption, along with business rate relief and funding opportunities not available otherwise.
It is already working with Northumberland County Council on the operation of two facilities - Ponteland Leisure Centre and Riverside Leisure Centre, Castle Morpeth.
C-Salt chief executive David Lunn said: "We will deliver a wide range of outreach activities that will engage and capture the imagination of the community."
Facilities will be managed and operated in partnership with Leisure Connection.
