New trust out of the starting blocks
Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust (DCLT) has officially taken over the running of the leisure facilities in Doncaster.
The move is the culmination of two years of hard work between Doncaster Council, Dearne Valley Leisure Trust and DCLT and will see a consistent management structure for the delivery and improvement of leisure in Doncaster.
Andrew Burden, Chair of DCLT said: "This has long been a vision of the council and both trusts to bring the venues under one management structure and the thinking behind this move will ensure that we are best placed to improve the standard of provision and increase participation for all residents in the borough."
The portfolio of DCLT venues will be: Adwick, Armthorpe, Askern, Crookhill Golf Course, Dearne Valley Leisure Centre, Hatfield Water Park, Edlington, Rossington, Rossington Community Sports Village, St James Pool and Health Club, Thorne, and The Dome.
DCLT will work with Doncaster Council, the NHS and the wider community to develop strategies to drive forward the health agenda.
Andrew continued: "We believe that working as a Leisure Trust will bring huge benefits, from procurement efficiencies, programming improvements and people development."
Rob Vincent, Chief Executive of DMBC added: "DCLT are perfectly placed to drive this project forward. They are regionally and nationally recognised as leaders in the fields of leisure and entertainment and possess the infrastructure and passion to succeed."
