New waterpark in the works at Kings Dominion
The owners of Kings Dominion theme park in Doswell, Virginia, US will undertake a complete renovation of the attraction's waterpark this year, as part of the site's 40th birthday celebrations.
WaterWorks will see a number of new rides and services being added – including a 65-foot (20-metre) tall slide tower, a larger children's area, new restaurants, updated changing rooms and cabanas and public WiFi.
The rebranded attraction will reopen as Soak City in spring 2015.
A spokesperson for Cedar Fair Entertainment Company – which owns Kings Dominion – said the makeover will be designed to "entertain people of all ages".
"The Soak City expansion shows our investment and commitment to being home to Virginia's premier water park," said Pat Jones, general manager of Kings Dominion.
"We're thrilled to offer two parks for the price of one, which is a great added-value to our guests who appreciate a chance to cool off during our hot summer season. The new water park will have thrills and chills for every age, creating memories that last a lifetime."
