New youth rugby initiative for Scotland
Positive Coaching Scotland (PCS) has unveiled a new youth rugby programme - targeted at clubs and rugby-playing schools across Scotland - with the Bill McLaren Foundation.
It is one of the first schemes to be supported by the foundation set up in memory of famous commentator Bill McLaren, with the three-year initiative to be delivered by Scottish Rugby. The delivery of the new £180,000 programme will be guided by sportscotland and Winning Scotland Foundation, which is a funding partner alongside the Bill McLaren Foundation.
Malcolm Murray, chair of the Bill McLaren Foundation, said: "This is the Foundation's first sizeable investment and we are delighted to be the major funder of such an important national project. "This project very much fulfils two of our Foundation's objectives; namely developing and promoting rugby union and its values, and encouraging and providing sporting opportunities for young people."
