A new spa has opened at the hotel Le Cep in Beaune, France, with a focus on sensorial experiences and skincare from Vinesime, a line based on Burgundy vineyards.

Located across from the hotel in the former meeting rooms, the 350sq m (3,767sq ft) Spa Marie de Bourgogne also features high, wooden-beamed ceilings and a fresco mural depicting the vineyards of Burgundy.

Facilities include four massage rooms – one in a panoramic tower – a Wellsystem dry hydromassage bed, Jouvence dry flotation bed, a hammam, sensorial shower, sauna in a large barrel, full-body cryotherapy, aquabiking, balneotherapy, a tea corner, relaxation corner with heating beds and a boutique.

The spa manager is Corinne Schmitt, who previously ran her own spa, the Shambali, also in Beaune.

Owner and general manager Jean Claude Bernard chose an a la carte menu that can be personalised for each client, according to her mood or available time – including a treatment that is just three minutes long.

“Our clients come to Burgundy to taste what it has best to offer, and this is already more than enough to keep them busy,” said Bernard. “I therefore wanted to offer them the possibility to thoroughly treat themselves to some quality moments of relaxation, even if they don’t have a lot of time.”

The spa is using Vinesime, a line of products created by Edouard and Marie Damidot, a young couple from Burgundy. The products use extracts of different grape varieties from local vineyards, including pinot noir from Gevrey Chambertin, Domain Rene Bouvier and chardonnay from the vineyard Le Clos.

“I wanted each experience to be a pleasant and quality moment, and for all the activities to be complementary so as to propose tailor-made programmes for each of our clients, depending on their needs, their mood or availabilities,” said Bernard.

Bar service and room service from Le Cep can be enjoyed in the lounges, garden or courtyard of the spa.

Designed by architect Dominique Desmon from Paris-based agency Lonsdale along with Patrick Bidot from the Beaune architectural firm A2A and Benoit Creus of Verre & Quarts Technologies, the spa uses materials found in Burgundy, including light oak wood that adorns the walls.
