Newbury development gets green light
West Berkshire Council has approved plans for a £70m mixed-use development at a Newbury industrial park earmarked for regeneration in a local planning strategy.
Property developer Renaissance is behind the 285,000sq ft (26,500sq m) Faraday Plaza project, which will transform one of the major gateways into the Berkshire town. The scheme is the first major development at the 13-hectare (32.1-acre) London Road Industrial Area, includes a 100-bedroom hotel, several restaurants, an office complex and apartments, as well as an expansive open space with café terraces and feature landscaping.
Sean Bates, chief operating officer at Renaissance, said: "Faraday Plaza is the results of four years' consultation between Renaissance, the local authority, external stakeholders, local businesses and members of the public."
