Nickelodeon pull out of New Orleans park project
Nickelodeon has pulled out of a licensing agreement on a project to revamp the derelict Six Flags theme park in New Orleans, US.
The children’s entertainment giant said it pulled out of its deal with Lousiana company Southern Star because it failed to meet contractual requirements and deadlines, but a spokesperson said: “Nickelodeon still believes that New Orleans is a viable location for licensed Nickelodeon-themed destination.”
Southern Star’s founder and president Danny Rogers countered that Nickelodeon had imposed an unrealistic timeline on the company for raising funds. The company still intends to move forward with the project.
Six Flags New Orleans was devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and has been abandoned since then.
