We won't add parks or announce parks until we feel comfortable that we are adding in the right places and with the right people, but our team is ready in the event that we add more

Jim Reid-Anderson, chair, president and CEO of Six Flags, has said there is "no restriction" on the operator's ability to develop and acquire new theme parks worldwide, as it goes through one of the largest periods of growth in company history.

Six Flags is currently undergoing significant expansion, both overseas and in the US, with 12 park projects under development overseas and a further five US parks acquired in May.

Speaking during an earnings call after reporting record revenues for the first half of the year, Anderson said there was unlimited potential for expansion.

"We have a process that we go through to make sure that we've got the right sites and the right partners," he said. "We won't add parks or announce parks until we feel comfortable that we are adding in the right places and with the right people. But our team is ready in the event that we add more. There is no restriction on our ability to add parks."

In the last quarter, Six Flags entered into new international licensing agreements to build a Six Flags-branded park in Saudi Arabia and four new parks in Nanchang, China. For its overseas developments, Six Flags has been operating under a franchise model, offering the company a low-cost option to expand its business.

"Our international licensing program is growing exponentially and providing additional diversification to our portfolio," said Reid-Anderson. "The opportunity for future growth remains very compelling."
