Northampton site set for revamp
Plans for the redevelopment of Northampton's Grosvenor Centre could be set to move forward after the local authority secured a deal with Legal and General (L&G).
Northampton Borough Council (NBC) admitted that there were a number of conditions to be satisfied before the scheme can progress, but it said that it was a "significant early step towards planning the redevelopment". Plans include doubling the size of the Grosvenor Centre, the restoration of historic pedestrian access across the town and new open and covered shopping areas. Greyfriars bus station would also be replaced.
NBC cabinet member for regeneration, Richard Church, said: "We have an ambition for Northampton to become a vibrant shopping and business centre for the region that makes the most of its traditional heritage as the county market town."
