Nottinghamshire pool closure deferred
The swimming pool at Meden Leisure Centre in Warsop, Nottinghamshire, will stay open for six months after the local authority agreed to put on hold plans to close the facility.
Mansfield District Council (MDC) had decided to shut the swimming pool in a bid to save £70,000 a year towards overall budget cuts worth £1.4m, but have now deferred the decision to allow a rescue package to be put together. The rest of Meden Leisure Centre's facilities will remain unaffected by plans to close the pool, which follows the recent completion of a £5m redevelopment at the former Sherwood Baths in Mansfield - now called the Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre.
