Notts County takeover plans approved
Munto Finance, a consortium of businessmen based in the Middle East, is poised to acquire Notts County Football Club (NCFC) after the club's supporters' trust voted in favour of the proposals.
The supporters' trust is now set to relinquish its 60 per cent stake in one of the world's oldest football clubs to the Munto Finance consortium, which had an undisclosed offer accepted by NCFC's board on 2 June. NCFC chair John Armstrong-Holmes said: "Although it has been proved many times before that money doesn't guarantee success in football, we are on the brink of a situation that will surely be unique in this club's history.
"Plans can actually be made to do things - on and off the field - without having to worry about whether we can afford it. I firmly believe Munto are the people to transform the fortunes of the club that we all care so deeply about." The takeover is set to be completed within the next two weeks.
