Notts college opens £600,000 sports centre
Garibaldi College in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire is set to open its new sporting facilities this week.
The school secured a grant of £464,468 from the Football Foundation in October 2006, and the new facility includes a third generation, floodlit rubber crumb pitch, with the capabilities of hosting seven, six and five-a-side football.
The college has appointed a football development officer for the site and it is hoped that the new centre will provide opportunities for the development of sport, in particular football, in the area.
Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: “These new facilities will really open up access to sport for local people, particularly youngsters.
“I want to congratulate Garibaldi College and the Nottinghamshire County FA for making this project a reality.”
