O2 Arena to host landmark NBA games
London's O2 Arena is set to host to the National Basketball Association's (NBA) first ever regular-season fixtures to be played in Europe this weekend (4-5 March).
New Jersey Nets will play Toronto Raptors on consecutive evenings at the O2 Arena, which has previously played host to exhibition basketball matches. Speaking last August, NBA commissioner David Stern said: "The staging of our first regular-season games in Europe is a milestone for the NBA and the ongoing development of basketball in the region.
"By bringing these two young and exciting teams to London, we are fulfilling our commitment to schedule a regular-season game in the UK prior to the 2012 Olympics."
