Oakworks manufacturing 1,000 examination beds a week to aid US hospital bed shortage
The coronavirus pandemic has seen a huge influx of hospital admissions around the globe and there are wide-spread concerns over hospitals experiencing equipment shortages.
In response, equipment manufacturer Oakworks has developed emergency field beds to help meet the demands and anticipated shortage of US hospital beds and examination tables.
Founded by Jeff and Linda Riach, Oakworks creates spa, massage and medical equipment and is supplying two different specially-developed field bed models for hospitals or overflow centres.
“We’ve moved very quickly to develop these beds, focusing all of our engineering capacity to get production up to speed quickly”, said Jeff Riach, CEO of Oakworks.
“I’m very proud of our team developing the capacity to build 1,000 beds a week so quickly. Having the products FDA listed was very important to us as we know that our front line caregivers have enough to worry about already,” he said.
Oakworks has previously worked as a supplier for a range of brands including Four Seasons, Clarins, Aman, Mayo Clinic, Ritz Carlton and Canyon Ranch.
