Occupancy rates fall at UK hotels
UK hoteliers experienced a fall in occupancy figures during June, according to the latest data from PKF Hotel Consultancy Services.
In its monthly report, PKF revealed that In London occupancy dipped by 2.6 per cent during the month, while the regions saw a similar fall of 2.5 per cent.
The average daily room occupancy at London hotels was 84.9 per cent during June and 75 per cent at hotels outside the capital.
Rooms yields, however, increased at most UK hotels as operators increased room rates.
In the capital, average room rate increased 7 per cent on 2007 levels - up from £148.14 to £158.52.
Robert Barnard, partner at PKF, said the falls were not a major concern and described the industry as remaining "steady" during 2008.
