Old El Paso unveils Mexican Cantina concept
Mexican food brand Old El Paso has opened a 58-cover restaurant at Alton Towers theme park in Staffordshire.
The 1,000sq ft (90sq m) Mexican Cantina features an open kitchen so customers can see their meals being prepared.
It is the first time the Old El Paso brand has opened its own dedicated outlet.
Liam Ward, trade sector manager for General Mills UK, which markets Old El Paso, said if the concept proves successful it could be expanded, both to other theme parks and potentially the high street.
“Mexican Cantina was introduced to bring the in-home Old El Paso experience to life out-of-home,” he said. “Alton Towers is the perfect environment to target the brand’s existing audience of young families.”
“It’s a unique collaboration between General Mills UK and Tussauds Group and the results will be carefully measured before a decision is made on further developments.”
Mexican Cantina was developed by Rawfish Design Consultants.
