Olympics expert retires from AOC
The secretary general of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), Bob Elphinston, will retire from the AOC at the end of this year.
Elphinston is also a member of the International Olympic Committee commission that will inspect the five cities bidding to host the 2012 Games. He will continue in this role and also in assisting the Organising Committees of Turin, Beijing and Vancouver.
He served as the AOC secretary general for four years. Prior to this, he was director of sport for the AOC and was involved in Sydney’s 2000 Olympic bid. Details: www.olympics.com.au
