Open-air galleries for Millennium Park
Chicago’s Millennium Park project will benefit from a US$5m (£2.6m, 3.9m euros) grant from US-based aerospace company Boeing, as the park has announced plans to use the funds to open two new outdoor exhibition spaces.
Construction work on the Boeing Galleries is under way and the galleries – located on the Park’s south and north terraces – are expected to open to the public in June.
Boeing’s chief executive, James Bell, said: “The Boeing Galleries will build upon the city’s rich history of public art – featuring regular exhibitions of visual arts and sculpture – in a venue which will be enjoyed and cherished for generations to come.”
A portion of the Boeing contribution will be used for an endowment which will help fund visual arts exhibitions in the galleries.
