Overhaul for Lichfield's Museum Gardens
Lichfield's Museum Gardens are to undergo a refurbishment as part of a multi-million pound parks scheme led by both Lichfield District and City councils.
The gardens act as a gateway to the city's Beacon Park and are to be revamped and improved under the Lichfield Historic Parks programme, which has received £3.919m of Lottery funding. Work will include the refurbishment of historic gateways into the park; the construction of new diagonal paths to link the fountain with the entrances; and the installation of information panels.
Lichfield District Council's cabinet member for development services, Neil Roberts, said: "Museum Gardens is a gateway to the rest of Beacon Park, and it is important that we restore it to its former splendour, so that visitors can enjoy it for years to come."
