Parkwood wins Cardiff pool contract
Parkwood Leisure has been awarded the contract to manage the Swimming Pool Complex at the £700m Cardiff International Sports Village (CISV).
The complex is costing £26m and will house a 50m swimming pool, 25m warm-up pool and a 150-station fitness suite. It will also offer a leisure pool with flumes and features.
Cardiff-based OLLC is responsible for the CISV development, which will also feature residential developments and other leisure facilities – potentially a snowdome, ice rink, white water centre and general purpose arena.
The complex is due to open in the summer 2007 and Parkwood’s contract will run for 10 years, with a projected turnover of £2.5m each year.
Parkwood has also been awarded two further 10-year management contracts, with Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and North Somerset District Council, which each include three leisure centres.
Preliminary results released by Parkwood Holdings show that in 2005 Parkwood Leisure delivered a net operating profit of £20.5m
