Parques Reunidos to run Waterworld California
The US subsidiary of Parques Reunidos has been selected by owner CNL Lifestyle Properties to take over the management of Waterworld California.
The move will mean the Madrid-based Parques Reunidos Group - owned by British private equity firm Candover Investments - now owns or operates more than 70 different leisure sites and attractions. Most of these are theme parks, amusement parks, zoos, water parks or FECs, spread across 10 different countries, principally in Europe and the US.
More than 50 of them have been acquired over the past five years, in countries including Argentina, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, the UK and the US. Waterworld California, a 23-acre site formerly owned by Six Flags, is situated in Concord, east of San Francisco, and features more than 30 waterslides and attractions.
