Planet Fitness ticks off final US state with Hawaii opening
Planet Fitness has opened its first gym in Hawaii, giving it a presence in all 50 US states.
The club in Honolulu features cardio and strength equipment, circuit training, locker rooms and showers, flat screen televisions and free small group fitness classes.
“Entering our 50th state is a testament to the strength and broad appeal of our brand nationwide," said Chris Rondeau, chief executive officer of Planet Fitness.
The company reached another milestone at the end of last month after opening its 1,500th global site in Durham, North Carolina, with plans revealed for further expansion.
Rondeau added: “We look forward to executing on the long runway for growth ahead of us, with a potential footprint of 4,000 stores across the US.
"2017 was another milestone year for our business and we're well positioned to capitalise on the many opportunities that lie ahead.”
Founded in 1992, Planet Fitness is marketed as a “judgement-free zone” and has more than 10.5 million members in the US, Canada, Dominican Republic, Panama and Puerto Rico.
