Platini eyes summer move for European football
UEFA president Michel Platini is reportedly drawing up proposals which will see European football seasons run between March and October.
According to the Independent, the plans are believed to have received the backing of FIFA president Sepp Blatter and would form part of a global model for domestic football. >
It is also thought that the scheme could enable the 2022 Qatar World Cup to be held in the winter, following concerns over conditions if the event were to take place in the summer. The Independent said that the proposals first emerged in Germany's Bild newspaper.
