Polar Extremes opens at ODE
Our Dynamic Earth (ODE) in Edinburgh has opened its redeveloped Polar Extremes gallery, following a £260,000 revamp.
The new gallery now features plasma screens, film footage, light shows and temperature effects to demonstrate that the poles are radically different.
Films and interactive exhibits portray the diverse habitats and show how environmental changes threaten indigenous animals.
ODE’s scientific director, Stuart Monro, said: “Visitors will learn about the differences, allowing them to come to their own conclusions about the challenges facing the planet today.”
The project was funded by the Scottish Executive.
