Power Station redevelopment makes progress
Detailed design and commercial planning will now start on Battersea Power Station, after planning consent was secured for all the outstanding aspects. Developers, Parkview Inter-national, recieved detailed planning and listed building consent for the most of the site last September, the latest decision refers to the jetty, a conference hotel and a theatre. The Battersea Jetty has been designed by Nicholas Grimshaw and Partners, and will redevelop the currently disused jetty. Parkview president, Victor Hwang says: 'We now have in place the last piece of the jigsaw as far as planning consent is concerned and the next stage will be to ensure that we have commercial certainty. During the coming months we will begin the process of awarding construction contracts in parallel with detailed design and financial planning.' The complex will have cafés, bars, restaurants, cinemas and other attractions, two hotels, a theatre, a product showcase building and residential space.
