Praise for TSE's DDA guide
Its guide to the Disability Discrimination Act has proved a hit for Tourism South East (TSE).
Principally designed to help the tourism accommodation business fulfill its responsibilities under the DDA, the guide is also proving popular with other elements of the industry, such as attractions, pubs, restaurants and retail outlets.
The 50-page A4 guide contains practical information and a self-completion access audit, together with photographs and cartoons to illustrate the issues being discussed.
Topics covered include car parks and access routes; bedrooms, bathrooms and public areas; steps, stairs, ramps and corridors; printed material and signage and useful equipment and aids.
A further section gives advice on how businesses can best publicise their accessibility to potential visitors, other tourism bodies and the press.
The Creating Accessible Tourism Guide costs £7.50 to TSE members and £15 to non-members, both plus £1 postage and packing.
Cheques should be made payable to TSE and sent to Development (Access), Tourism South East, 40 Chamberlayne Road, Eastleigh, Hampshire SO50 5JH. TSE members should quote their membership number to obtain the discounted price.
