Princessa Victoria launches floating hotels fleet
Property developers Chromecastle are close to securing a £35m deal for a floating hotel in London Docklands.
The Princessa Victoria, a historic mail steamship, will be converted into a 250 stateroom, five star hotel and leisure complex. It is the first of up to 30 new 'boatels' planned throughout the world.
Bru Pearce, director of Chromecastle, has received planning consent for the Princessa Victoria, and is being approached by operators interested in the hotel and club accommodation.
'Lots of ex-ports are now financial centres. We'll ideally be using historic ships that we can acquire relatively cheaply,' said Pearce. Chromecastle expect to get permission for hotel ship projects where new builds would not be successful.
The Princessa Victoria will be berthed at West India Dock and is due to open in early 2004. Facilities will include a members' club, ballroom, restaurants, health and wellbeing clinic, business centre and television studio. Details: +44 (0) 8707 100 600 or email:[email protected]
