Probably the best brewer in Tibet...
Danish brewer, Carlsberg, has acquired 50 per cent of the share capital of Tibet’s Lhasa Brewery, the only one in the country.
The move, in conjunction with the Danish Industrialisation Fund for Developing Countries (IFU), will make Carlsberg the market leader in Tibet’s fast growing beer market. The Lhasa Brewery is free from debt and had a turnover of approximately DKK120m in 2003.
The other 50 per cent of the shares will be retained by the brewery’s current owner, Tibet Galaxy Science & Technology Development Co. Both sides to the deal have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
