Public asked for its views on New Forest management plan
The New Forest National Park Authority (NFNPA) is seeking the public's views on a revised draft Management Plan which sets out its vision for the New Forest over the next 20 years.
The plan will look at the main issues, define objectives for the next 20 years and show how they are going to be achieved by setting out priority actions for the next five years. Barrie Foley, NFNPA interim chief executive, said: "The revised draft strongly reflects the comments received during the consultation so far, more than 10,000 responses from many people and stakeholder organisations. It's a blueprint for everyone in the Park.
He continued: "It's important to realise that the Plan's aims cannot be realised by the National Park Authority alone. It is only through working together with all the different interest groups in the Forest and surrounding area that we can protect and enhance this beautiful place." The Authority's detailed planning policies will follow in a separate 'Core Strategy' document which will be subject to further public consultation early in the New Year. Likewise, the 'Recreation Management Strategy' document will be submitted in early 2010.
