Public exhibition for High Wycombe plans
Wycombe District Council (WDC) has revealed that plans for the Buckinghamshire town's new sports and leisure centre are to go on display at a public exhibition from 26 March.
A week-long exhibition will tour each of High Wycombe's three existing facilities and aims to give current users and local residents the opportunity to learn more about the scheme.
WDC plans include a new £27m complex at Handy Cross, which will include an eight-lane, 50m swimming pool; a 20m x 8m learner pool; a 12-court sports hall; and a 150-station gym.
A health suite; dance studios and squash courts are also planned. Meanwhile, the relocation of an athletics track, synthetic pitches and bowls hall will see the overall cost reach £29m.
The local authority recently agreed to move forward with a design brief and full business case for the development, with the new leisure centre scheduled to open in 2015.
WDC cabinet member for property services and economic development Arif Hussain said: "The aim of this exhibition is to update everyone on the mix of facilities that we are proposing to include in the new sports and leisure centre."
