Punch licensee animatedly immortalised
Punch Taverns-owned, The Dolphin, on Plymouth’s Barbican, and its licensee Billy Holmes, have been immortalised thanks to a BBC One animated series called Bosom Pals.
Based on the paintings of Devon’s Beryl Cook, the two-part series featured the voices of Dawn French, Alison Steadman and Jessica Stevenson while Billy was voiced by Timothy Spall.
Billy has run The Dolphin for the past 14 years while the production company for Bosom Pals. first approached him four years ago with the idea. He said: “To finally see it on television is really exciting, all the regulars are talking about it.”
Business relationship manager for Punch Taverns, Clive Greene, added: “While we’ve had pubs feature in films and documentaries before, I am fairly sure an animation is a first. This will undoubtedly put this fabulous pub firmly on the local map.”
