Purple People Bridge Climb set to launch in Ohio
Work is set to begin this winter on a new bridge climb attraction on the Purple People Bridge, which links Cincinnati, Ohio and Newport, Kentucky across the Ohio River.
Only the fourth such attraction in the world – after Sydney and Brisbane in Australia and Auckland in New Zealand – visitors will be able to walk along the upper trestles of the bridge’s five spans before walking out onto a glass floor suspended directly above the river.
They will also get to walk underneath the bridge.
Climbers will wear special suits and be secured to the bridge at all times.
The attraction, which is set to open in the spring 2006, is being created by International Theme Park Services.
The 0.5-mile Purple People Bridge is the longest pedestrian-only bridge in the United States. Details: www.purplepeoplebridgeclimb.com
