Qingdao water park to open in 2012
Chinese media has reported that a new water park is to be built in Qingdao - on the country's east coast - with a projected opening date of June 2012.
Expected to become a new hot tourism spot in Shandong province, the CNY3bn (£282.5m) attraction is slated to be the country's first Chinese-myth-themed indoor water park. Situated in the Qingdao Development Area and covering an area of 766,000sq m (8.2m sq ft), it will contain a five-star hotel, a cinema, an electronic games store, a large-scale entertainment area and a gym.
The park is expected to attract 20,000 tourists a day and create jobs for 15,000 people. Its annual fiscal income is projected to be around CNY200m (£19m).
