Queensland Tourism Industry Council develops Generation Y tourism network
The Queensland Tourism Industry Council has developed a new project, named QTIC-Y.
QTIC-Y is a Generation Y tourism network linking tourism students, employees, entrepreneurs and stakeholders together.
The network has three main objectives:
• Raising awareness of Generation Y priorities to wider industry, government and media • Networking within the Y community and the wider industry for job referrals, peer mentoring and training
• Offering training and business development support for members as well as cost-effective consultancy for SMEs
The Queensland Tourism Industry Council is currently awaiting membership fee approval from its board of directors, but is looking to gather expressions of interest and support from potential members and organisations.
David Liddell, policy officer, said: “I would like to enquire whether your organisation would be interested in supporting this project in any way. Our main priority at the moment is to spread the word about this new network and gain a loyal membership base.
“The network is highly valuable for both the Y Generation and tourism organisations, as it allows for networking with industry professionals, personal development and support in career advancement.”
