We pride ourselves on providing the industry with the best water-related safety qualifications and support. This provides reassurance and value for operators while ensuring optimum safety for users enjoying leisure facilities.
– Jo Talbot, director of commercial operations, RLSS UK

The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) is proud to be the industry leader in water-related safety qualifications and training. More than 40,000 pool lifeguards qualify with a RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) every year.

Established more than 125 years ago RLSS UK is recognised worldwide as an expert in lifeguarding. The organisation sits on many industry panels to evolve and develop national safety standards and frequently gets asked to advise Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) and Health and Safety Executives regarding incidents in swimming pools and open water. RLSS UK increasingly finds itself as one of the ‘go-to’ organisations for professional comment and advice on water safety by the British media.

IQL UK, the awarding organisation for RLSS UK, has many regulated qualifications, all of which are formally endorsed by CIMSPA. IQL UK is proud to have created the first lifeguard qualification against the CIMSPA lifeguard standard to provide operators with an exceptional qualification. RLSS UK prides itself on meeting and exceeding standards and is one of the few organisations to have Pool Plant qualifications endorsed by both CIMSPA and PWTAG.

With more than 60,000 regulated qualifications and non-regulated vocational training awards certificated each year, RLSS UK continues to innovate, create and implement, ensuring its clients remain at the cutting edge of lifesaving, lifeguarding, water safety and life support skills.

RLSS UK works with an impressive list of national leisure providers and partners; from hotels, spa pools and competition pools, to leisure centres and aqua parks, helping to improve water safety and health and safety standards across the UK and Ireland. RLSS UK also has a proven track record of developing bespoke qualifications for the cruise and holiday industries and delivering straightforward, clear and practical consultancy support to anyone with liabilities to visitors and staff around water, including events, construction developments and outdoor recreation.

Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) is a registered charity in England and Wales (1046060) and Scotland (SC037912)
