Radisson moves into centre of Belfast
Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts has opened its second hotel in Northern Ireland, a £14m property in Belfast.
The new-build hotel boasts 120 guest rooms, including eight suites – one of which is the largest one-bedroom penthouse suite available in Belfast.
Guests have the choice of two styles of bedroom: the Nordic: ‘cool, calm and chic’, or the Urban: ‘warm, bold and vibrant’.
The property also includes a Mediterranean-style restaurant and bar, Filini – offering Italian cuisine from an open kitchen and overlooking a water feature and fountains – as well as five meeting rooms each with their own break out areas.
Kurt Ritter, president and CEO of Rezidor SAS Hospitality, which owns the Radisson brand, said the opening of the Radisson SAS Hotel in Belfast reflected the ‘growing stature of Belfast as an attractive holiday or weekend break destination and a city for international business’.
Radisson now operates 139 hotels in 37 countries throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa with another 30 projects currently under development. Including the new site, the brand has eight hotels in Ireland, the others being in Limavady, Letterkenny, Sligo, Athlone, Galway, Dublin and Limerick.
Its parent company, Rezidor, the sole franchisor in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for the Carlson brands Radisson, Park Inn, Regent and Country Inn, aims to operate 700 hotels by 2012. It currently has a portfolio of 220 open and under development in 43 countries and is also developing a new lifestyle hotel brand with international fashion house, Cerruti.
