Rainforest attraction for Wales
Rainforest Ventures (RVL) is set to develop a £45m tropical rainforest themed visitor attraction near Bridgend in south Wales.
The 100,000sq ft (9,290sq m) Borneo Rainforest project will encompass a tropical botanic attraction featuring plant species from the Indonesian Malay Archipelago and will showcase successful sustainable technology to teach visitors about the importance of our climate and eco systems.
A visitor centre will exhibit displays on climate change and the importance of rainforest conservation, while a themed hotel and conference centre will have vistas over the rainforest canopy.
The attraction will be built adjacent to Valleywood Studios, a 317-acre complex of 12 film and television studios being developed by Dragon International Studios, of whom Lord Attenborough is chair.
Gloucester-based Limbrick Architecture & Design have designed the rainforest leisure development.
John Woodman, director of Rainforest Ventures, said: “Our company aims to assure sustained public attention to the threat of rainforest deforestation via logging, shifting cultivation and agricultural land development, and the role and value these vital regions play in maintaining global climate balance.”
RVL may develop a further site in north west England as well as a Congo Rainforest development in Belgium.
