Ramsay plans move into pub business
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is planning to open a chain of country pubs in the UK.
He is reportedly looking to acquire a number of sites which would offer ‘good food at value for money prices’. The first pub is expected to open next year.
Chief executive of Gordon Ramsay Holdings, Chris Hutcheson, said: “What we are looking at now is a move into pubs that serve food.
“I don’t mean gastropubs – I mean good food.”
Ramsay, who has seven Michelin stars across his portfolio of restaurants and presents The F Word and Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares on television, is also set to open his first establishment in New York next month.
The restaurant will be located within the Rihga Royal Hotel, which is owned by the New York-based private equity firm The Blackstone Group and currently undergoing a US$50m (£26.2m, 38.8m euro) refurbishment under the direction of Irish designer David Collins, before reopening as The London NY.
The 80-seat restaurant will be managed by Jean-Baptiste Requien from Claridge’s and feature an open kitchen run by head chef Neil Ferguson, who has previously worked at La Tante Claire, The Square, Aubergine, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay and Angela Hartnett at The Connaught in London as well as L’Esperance and L’Arpège in France.
