Re-opening of Brighton's Dome Concert Hall
The Dome Concert Hall in Brighton will re-open on 24 February 2002 after a £22m refurbishment programme.
The concert hall will boast new front of house facilities, new seating with improved sightlines and a state-of-the-art acoustic system.
Three quarters of the funding for the project, designed to turn the concert hall into a major centre for live arts for the 21st century, came from The Arts Council of England's Lottery Fund. Additional money came from Brighton and Hove City Council, The Brighton Festival Society and the Single Regeneration Budget.
Made famous in the 60s and 70s, the Dome Concert Hall has hosted rock legends Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones as well as the Eurovision Song Contest that Abba won with Waterloo.
Artists already confirmed for the concert hall's first season include the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Comedians Jack Dee and Lee Evans and Brighton DJ fat Boy Slim.
